Sele Max Fuah | Liberia Sele Max Fuah has more than 14 years of youth and civic engagement experience. Sele is currently a project assistant with the Rising Youth Mentorship Initiative, one of six partner organizations working on a regional project to reduce sexual and gender-based violence in West Africa's Mano River region. He is also the director of programs at Smiling Faces International, a youth-focused nonprofit he co-founded. The organization focuses on developing emerging leaders' confidence through creative forms of expression and leadership training built on community-based innovation and cultural understanding. Sele is a board member at Market Players, a Botswana-based entrepreneurship support group dedicated to improving the competitiveness of African startups and SMEs. He has a postgraduate diploma in social medicine (sexual and reproductive health) from Lund University in Sweden and a bachelor's degree in social work from Liberia. Sele is committed to cultivating servant leaders, empowering emerging change agents, promoting social and economic reform, mental health, small business growth, and encouraging community-driven solutions in Liberia and elsewhere. In 2023, MTN Liberia named him a Hero of Change, one of the top ten leaders contributing to Liberia's growth and development. In 2022, he received an IVLP Impact Award from the United States Department of State in Washington, DC. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Sele plans to implement a project to empower grass-roots civic society leaders to develop robust, systematic, and sustainable social ventures and programs to benefit low-income communities in Liberia and elsewhere.
